So That's What It Does

A blog for anything I feel like posting. Used to be Totallynotabrony, but that username went from ironic to accurate. And I've always been a fan of Marvel comics and the Marvel Movieverse.

JK Rowling Given Freedom Of London
And 10 Other Things You Didn’t Know About The Harry Potter Author
1. As a child JK Rowling’s favourite book was The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge.
2. JK Rowling insisted on using British actors for the Harry Potter films.
3. JK Rowling and her husband have no plans to stop working despite her multi million pound fortune, as she thinks working sets a good example to her children.
4. JK Rowling goes on Harry Potter fan sites - she once visited the chatroom of popular site Mugglenet, and got told to keep quiet by regulars as she didn’t know enough about Harry Potter.
5. JK Rowling typed Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on a typewriter.
6. After graduating, and before starting the Harry Potter books, JK Rowling worked as a researcher at Amnesty International.
7. Before she finished the books, she let Alan Rickman in on the whole story, so that he could play the character of Severus Snape better in the films.
8. Harry Potter and JK Rowling have the same birthday, 31st July.
9.  Her preferred Hogwarts house would be Gryffindor (the same house as Harry, Ron and Hermoine).
10. Her first fan letter was from a reader called Francesca Gray. She thought JK Rowling was a man and started her letter, ‘Dear Sir…’
Source

The very first edition of HP was written by Joan Rowling, and her pen name was changed to J.K. Rowling to make more people buy the book.

How exactly is number 5 mind-blowing? She started writing Philosopher’s Stone in 1990. Only about 20% of American households had home computers in 1990, and that was over half the global market. So, in other words, NO SHIT SHE WROTE THE FIRST HP NOVEL ON A TYPEWRITER. The chance of someone in her financial situation in 1990 owning a personal computer in Britain was next to 0%.

Introducing Tumble Tree! ~ Check out this thing I made that lets you see how posts are reblogged across Tumblr. It works on the dashboard or on most permalink pages, and you can sproing the branches around, filter notes by comments, save the tree as a picture blah blah blah. I’ve been using and testing it for the last couple of weeks and it’s pretty handy.Go to tumble-tree.tumblr.com to try it out and install it. I guarantee you probably won’t die!P.S. Yes this is why I haven’t posted much in the last couple of weeks.

Well fuck this is EXACTLY the kind of thing I’ve always wanted to have.

Cool thing, guys. Spread it.
